What is an EMI?

An Equated Monthly Instalment is a periodic payment used to repay a loan. For a standard reducing-balance calculation, the payment is based on the principal, periodic interest rate and number of payments.

Why the split changes

Interest for a period is calculated on the outstanding principal. As principal is repaid, the outstanding balance falls, so the interest component generally falls too while the principal component rises, assuming the rate and payment stay unchanged.

What the calculator shows

The FormWise EMI Calculator reports an estimated monthly EMI, total repayment and total interest. It does not account for every lender-specific fee or a future variable-rate change.

Use the result carefully

A calculator is useful for comparing scenarios, but the final loan terms should come from the lender's offer and repayment schedule.
